Unum Coverage Availability & Fees
Unum offers a number of different dental insurance plans, so it is important that you pay attention to the details of your unique policy. Here is an overview of the type of benefits you may enjoy:
- Preventive care, which typically includes cleanings, exams, and routine X-rays, is usually 100% covered.
- Minor restorative care, such as fillings and simple extractions, may be up to 80% covered.
- Major services, including crowns and some types of oral surgery, could be around 50% covered.
Your plan may allow you to use your benefits at any dental practice. However, when you visit an in-network provider, you can expect to pay less out of pocket. That is because we have a contract with Unum that controls prices.
You should be aware of the limits and stipulations on your plan. For example, you may have an annual maximum, which is a limit on the amount of money that Unum will pay for approved services within a calendar year. Because we are in-network with Unum, you can get the greatest value possible out of your plan when you visit us.
Plus, because we are used to dealing with the ins and outs of dental insurance, we can help you schedule treatments in a strategic way. For example, in some cases, we can perform major services across multiple appointments between calendar years. This can allow you to use two annual maximums rather than just one.
